Use these top tips to speed your Google searches or refine the results 

 


1. "Exact Phrase"
Use quotes to restrict search results to the exact phrase. When you use search parameters in quotes, it tells the search engine to search for the whole phrase.
For example: "red laptop cover"

2. Exclude Words -
When you need to narrow down search results to a particular type you can add a minus sign or hyphen to tell the search engine to ignore results containing that word.
For example: cricket -insect

3. Search a range ..
Separate numbers by two full stops without spaces to see results that contain numbers in a range.
For Example: Microwave £20..£50

4. . Use the wildcard asterisk#
Use an asterisk in a search term to leave a place-holder that can be filled by the search engine. This helps when you are not sure of the exact phrase or title of query. For example book titles or song lyrics.
For example: “I'm dreaming of a * Christmas”

5. Search within a site
Search with the prefix site to look for results within a specific website site:cloudscape.it This will find results from only http://cloudscape.it

6. Quick answers
Google is smart enough the work out what you might be looking for in the majority of searches.
Use terms such as:
Weather: to find the weather in your location or add a city to find weather for a specific location place.
Define: use define in front of any word to look up a definition.
Calculate: Enter an equation such as 5*238, to calculate quickly
Unit conversions: Enter a conversion, like £5,60 in euros.

7. Synonyms

Searches for multiple words in the body of the search result.
Write the query with allintext: (without spaces)

9. + Include word(s) in the results
